My Journey to writing

I was spending time at my desk shortly after arriving in Colorado. My kids had gone back to Phoenix after helping me settle in, and I was planning the weeks ahead, getting the house ready for the new students.

Then, as clear as day, I saw the words Living God and the Butterfly Girl run before my eyes like a marquee.

Immediately, I began asking the Lord, "Why this name? What do You want me to do with it?"

I knew the answer almost instantly.

He wanted me to begin blogging and sharing my journey, along with the things He was placing on my heart.

Nine years earlier, while floating on a raft in my swimming pool in Arizona, the Holy Spirit revealed that one day I would write the story of my life. Four years later, the Lord told me it was time to begin.

For the next four days, I wrote almost nonstop. With an ice pack on my shoulder to help ease the pain from writing so much, I kept going until I reached what would have been the final chapter.

Then I stopped.

I had no ending.

The Lord had already given me the title, The Living God, but I knew the story wasn't complete. So, I waited.

Just a few months ago, the Lord finally revealed the ending.

He simply said, "The ending of your book is your new beginning."

Suddenly, everything made sense.

The book was never just about the events of my life.

It was the story of my life with the Living God.

And now...

my transformation had become the Butterfly Girl.

With that new understanding, I was ready to move forward. I wanted to write with everything in me. Yet, as the months passed, I accomplished very little. Life brought one obstacle after another, and it became difficult just to begin.

With some encouragement from my sister Cindy, I am finally sitting down to write this at the end of January 2024.

I've struggled with reading, writing, and vocabulary for most of my life, but I know I must persevere. God has a purpose for this journey, so here we go.

Welcome to Living God and the Butterfly Girl.

I will do my very best, but even more than that, I hope you feel encouraged and empowered along the way. No matter what is standing in front of you, keep following the plan the Lord has for your life.

As I began this process, the pushback only increased. Every day after school, it felt like a struggle just to sit down and write.

Then one evening at the dinner table, the Lord spoke to me.

"Kim, I need you to feed the baby."

I replied, "What?"

Then He said, "What I have given you has been there for a very long time. It's like being pregnant. Now you have given birth, and if you don't feed the baby, it will die."

Instantly, I understood.

This wasn't my plan.

It was His.

I found every reason to disqualify myself, but I refused to be disobedient.

I became sick through the holidays and still wasn't completely well while writing this, but I refused to let the enemy stop me because God has given us all authority through Christ.

The Lord reminded me why He had called me to Colorado in the first place—to spend time with Him and learn His Word. Six months later, He reminded me again that many people do not truly know His Word, and He wanted me to be willing to share it, something every believer is called to do.

So here I am.

With what I have...

me and the Holy Spirit. ❤️

I truly believe that when the Lord asks us to do something, and we choose to push through in obedience, He also gives us the grace and ability to accomplish what He has asked us to do.

Please pray with me as we walk through this journey together. My prayer is that these stories point people to the truth of God's Word and reveal more of His heart.

You will soon find me sharing these writings through this blog, videos, and social media as often as I can. I am excited to see what the Lord will do as He brings you along on this journey with me.

Recently, the Lord reminded me that many of us, including me, know only part of His true nature. Scripture tells us that we "know in part," so my desire is simply to share what He has faithfully shown me.

I will be sharing the Living God I have come to know and love, the stories He has written throughout my life, and my journey here at Charis Bible College.

Thank you for choosing to follow along with us on this journey.
